Silver Screen
LIMITED EDITION

Edition of 420 specimens

This exclusive fountain pen, pays homage to more than 100 years of film history. Celluloid in this new Limited Edition Silver Screen pen represents that used in early motion pictures.

In 1887 Hannibal Goodwin developed the roll film utilizing celluloid as a new photographic medium which laid the foundation for the film industry. And, in doing so, he created much more than just a new film imaging material: he made it possible to share moments of joy and laughter, all through the magic of movies. It wasn't until the advent of celluloid that stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe or James Dean became world-famous. But the beginning wasn't easy: the films were originally fused with cellulose nitrate and were extremely flammable, almost bursting into flames upon contact with heat. A dangerous characteristic that was finally eliminated with the refinement of film material in the 1950s.

A ring of genuine celluloid in the shape of a filmstrip encircles the shaft, and four red rubies pinpoint the center of each artfully incorporated palladium-plated star. These elements combine to commemorate the epic moments of Hollywood cinematic. Classic black along with sterling silver enhancements provides a timeless elegance.

Jubilee Pen
M101N LIMITED EDITION

Edition of 238 specimens

The M101N Jubilee Pen commemorates an impressive event: the 175th anniversary of the company Pelikan. Based on the original shape of the 101N Lizard from 1937, the Jubilee Pen was created with the utmost attention to detail and the accumulated know-how of centuries of experience.

THE NAME
The number 100 was chosen in 1930 for all models with colored barrels. In 1935, the first fountain pens with the number 101 were produced for the export markets. They not only had a pattern or color on the barrel, but also a matching one on the cap. Two years later, a bigger model was launched with the addition “N” for neu (which means new in German). The M in front of the number was added many years later, to differentiate the piston mechanism (M for the German word Mechanik) from the cartridge mechanism. So, the name in itself already tells a long story to the initiated, with each letter and number a cornerstone in the history of Pelikan.

THE GOLD NIB
The 18-carat gold nib is hand-made in Germany. Nineteen different production steps are necessary until a nib is finally deemed perfect enough to be chosen for our most prestigious models. The nib is completely rhodanized to get a silver sheen, matching the silver applications.

DIAMONDS
As a very precious feature, diamonds are set inside the pelican’s nest, which can be found in the engraved logo at the cap’s top.

STERLING SILVER
Finest Sterling silver (925) was used for the end and front piece, as well as the typical dome of the cap. It gives this traditional product a surprisingly modern look. The rings of the cap have also been made of Sterling Silver. Due to a special coating of the surface, the silver will remain shiny throughout the years.

THE PATTERN
The lizard pattern is fashioned out of cellulose acetate, a material that is based on the raw material cotton. Historically, celluloid was used for the barrel and the cap, but this material is highly combustible, that’s why we have been working for decades now with the very reliable and strong alternative. It takes many production steps until the material is correctly formed and polished. Every piece is unique.

LIMITED
This fountain pen series is limited to 238 pieces, commemorating the founding year 1838. The number is individually engraved into the silver surface of the cap, making each fountain pen a unique piece.

Spirit of 1838
LIMITED EDITION

Edition of 238 specimens

From chemist to king of inks. Carl Hornemann had two significant traits that characterized his undertakings: Scientific expertise and a great deal of passion. Thus, he founded a paint and ink factory that grew to become a company of great international success. Pelikan is celebrating “180 years of passion” on 28th of April 2018!

Our anniversary icon is an homage to the stylish Souverän with a fine, pinstriped appearance. A charismatic presence with a unique spirit. Small stones with a dazzling effect. You can see that the famous pelican in the cap is guarding its chicks, and if you look further, you will also find that it has laid three radiant diamonds in its nest. They are an allegory for the values of trust, reliability, and being Made in Germany, all of which Pelikan takes very seriously. A silver-plated gold nib with special engraving crowns the “Spirit of 1838”. You notice it at first glance: The ink in this pen is also its lifeblood. Each piece is unique and features an engraved edition number too.

Classic elegance meets a premium finish. High-sheen silver ornamentation decorates the cap, rings, and Pelikan clip on our anniversary edition. The barrel also appears elegant with fine sterling silver and soft guilloche. If you are lucky enough to call this treasure your own, it will certainly be a special favorite in your collection.

Herzstück 1929
LIMITED EDITION

Edition of 462 specimens

The engineer Theodor Kovács developed a ground-breaking fountain pen with a differential piston mechanism that resolves the disadvantages of the writing implements that existed at the time. Pelikan’s owner Fritz Beindorff recognizes the significance of the invention, and purchases the patent in 1927. Patent registration follows in Germany in 1928, and just one year later the first Pelikan fountain pen with patented piston mechanism goes into series production. The new piston mechanism system changes writing culture.

The innovative technology with two differing thread leads inside the fountain pen ensures that the shaft turns faster than the grip of the pen. The writing implement can hold a high volume of ink, can be filled more easily, and produces no ink blots. The “Herzstück 1929” pays tribute to the original from the 1920s: The transparent window, the curved Pelikan beak-like clip, the cap with the historic Pelikan logo, and the form and detail of the grip are reminiscent of the revolutionary Pelikan fountain pen.

Kept entirely in black and gold, the pen appears particularly exclusive. Gilded brass and the 18-carat-gold nib ensure that the “Herzstück 1929” shines. The black high-grade resin – the so-called platinum of plastics – is polished with natural diamonds and exerts a self-polishing effect with use. Extreme gloss and the utmost surface hardness characterize the material.

In honor of the original, the limited edition is based on the historic patent number, for which the last three figures were 462. The complete patent number is engraved on the gilded piston, while the individual edition number – here number 008 – of the total of 462 pieces worldwide adorns the grip ring of each pen. It is proof of the uniqueness of these rare beauties.
